MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) - Valentine’s Day was mostly dry, but rain chances are returning to the forecast. Most of us will stay dry through the rest of these overnight hours, but a few light sprinkles cannot be ruled out as we head towards sunrise.
Friday through Sunday, coverage of rain will stay spotty. Some get wet, many don’t - and any rain that falls should be brief and mainly light.
Next week, things change in a big way. A front stalls north of us, and the rain will gradually become more widespread, heavier and last longer. While we believe the heaviest amounts will fall in north Alabama, our area will likely see a solid 2-5″ of rain next Monday through next Sunday. And, that heavy rain that falls in north Alabama will drain into rivers and flow downstream, setting the stage for some river flooding problems to emerge late next week and into next weekend.
We’ll be watching!
