MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) - It’s safe to say that Spring has sprung in Alabama - flowers are blooming, there’s pollen in the air...and pollen on your car...and pollen in your lungs. But, I digress. Other than the pollen, it’s a bright, beautiful Spring week in our part of the world. And, it will stay that way through Friday, before a weekend storm system brings rain (and washes away some of that nasty pollen).
After a chilly start in the lower 40s and upper 30s, sunshine will warm us into the lower 70s Thursday afternoon. No rain, no storms, no problems!
Perfect weather continues into Friday; we’ll warm into the mid 70s Friday afternoon with more sun than clouds.
Nothing lasts forever, though. Things change this weekend, as a cold front will roll through the Southeast, bringing some showers and thunderstorms along for the ride. New model data has trended slower with this system, and I think there’s a very good chance we stay dry through sunset Saturday. Then, Saturday night into early Sunday, a weakening band of showers and storms will sweep through central and south Alabama.
At this time, we don’t see any significant risk of severe weather with this system. Cooler air filters into the state behind the front, highs will drop into the 60s on Sunday and into the first half of next week.
