ECLECTIC, AL (WSFA) - An Elmore County High School student was arrested Thursday and charged with making a terroristic threat.
Eclectic Police Chief Robert Head said the teen’s case will be handled in juvenile court.
Elmore County Superintendent Richard Dennis said a student exchanged “inappropriate” texts with another student that included threats against other people. The principal of the school followed the district’s procedures and contacted law enforcement, Dennis said.
In addition the legal action, the teen is facing disciplinary action by the school district.
Another student is also facing disciplinary action. Dennis and the police chief said the second juvenile’s actions didn’t rise to the level of criminal charges.
The superintendent said anytime there is a situation like this, the school takes it seriously and disciplinary action is taken against the students. The minimum action is long-term alternative school placement.
