TROY, AL (WSFA) - Seven different players recorded sacks as the Troy Trojans wrapped up their spring with the annual T-Day game.

It was a fitting day for the defense to dominate as former Trojan and Super Bowl Champion, multi-pro bowler and future NFL Hall of Famer DeMarcus Ware was in the Vet, getting a peak at this Trojan team.

The Grey team would top the White team 26-7.

Sawyer Smith and Gunnar Watson served as the QBs for the Gray team and combined to complete 25 of their 46 pass attempts for 247 yards and two touchdowns.

Jacob Free and Gavin Screws were the QBs for the White team. Free completed 4 passes for 31 yards, while Screws was 5 for 8 with 60 yards.

Texas A&M transfer running back Charles Strong had a 30-yard rushing touchdown for the White team.

“I’m really excited about the way we ended spring ball today. We have had 15 spring practices, and I really think that we improved, which is good," said head coach Chip Lindsey. "Today in a controlled atmosphere, we did a nice job on defense early on and the offense got going as the game moved on; both sides showed flashes. The best thing about today was that we got to sing the fight song in the locker room for the first time as a team.”

Next up for the Trojans is the 2019 season opener against Campbell on Aug. 31 at The Vet.
