MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) - Gov. Kay Ivey has announced she’ll host some special guests on Wednesday.

The Auburn Men’s Basketball team will visit the governor’s mansion for a ceremony to congratulate the team and Head Coach Bruce Pearl on their 2019 season accomplishments.

The team made program history this past season with their first ever Final Four appearance after beating Kentucky 77-71 in overtime in the Elite Eight.

The Tigers were within seconds of winning the Final Four and moving on to the championship game, but a missed call on a Virginia double dribble and a foul called on Auburn allowed Virginia to sink three free throws, pulling ahead 63-62.

The ceremony is scheduled to begin at 4:30 p.m. on the front lawn of the mansion, located on Montgomery’s South Perry Street.
