MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) - They say “grab life by the horns,” and the best way to do that is to be physically active. But it was a bit surprising Tuesday morning when a group of Montgomery runners found an extra partner who had no need for the old saying. She already had her own horns!
As the joggers were heading back to the Downtown YMCA, they noticed a goat hoofing it right along side them. And she followed them all the way to the front door.
“I have been chased by dogs and foxes. Had to avoid many snakes. Come up on bobcats, raccoons, and deer,” said runner Craig Clement. “Today, I made it as a runner. As I was finishing an eight mile run, a goat joined us and ran WITH us the last section of our run."
No kidding around. If you’re going to be the G.O.A.T., short for Greatest Of All Time for those who haven’t heard the phrase, you have to put in the work.
But where did she come from? It wasn’t immediately clear, but everyone knows it’s fun to stay at the YMCA.
It turns out Jezabelle, (we incorrectly called her Isabella in our original report), had gone missing from a residential area near the Y a short time earlier. It takes a village of people to raise a kid properly, and as her owners were searching, they found a crowd of people gathered around in the parking lot.
Jezabelle was quickly shepherded into a waiting vehicle and whisked home.
“Welcome to the running group,” Clement joked. Will she be back? She has a team waiting on her.
We’ve since learned Jezabelle has a Facebook page!
