MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) - Twenty-four women were honored in Montgomery Thursday night for their work across the River Region.

WSFA 12 News’ own Anchor Valorie Lawson received The Lifetime Achievement Award at the Little Red Dress Soiree event.

BMW Montgomery and Destiny Girls Academy, a local mentoring program for young girls, teamed up to celebrate women in a variety of professions.

Actress and Alabama State University Professor Doctor Tommie Stewart hosted the event.

“The event is actually spotlighting amazing women, 24 amazing women here in the community, who have just paved the way for the city and doing some big things here in city." Nikki Zeilger Destiny Girls Academy founder said.

Part of last night's proceeds from last night’s event will go to support the Destiny Girls Academy.
