MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) - A classic June pattern continues as May begins - expect warm mornings, very warm (borderline hot) afternoons, with a mix of sun and clouds. A few spots will get a quick splash of rain and/or thunder in the afternoon; the coverage of those afternoon storms will stay around 20% through Thursday. By Friday and Saturday, a front approaches from the west - while the details are still in question, this will likely cause an increase in rain coverage.
The good news? Severe weather is unlikely for at least the next 7 days, as the jet stream and strongest wind fields remain well to the north of Alabama.
Eric Snitil and I will be heading to Mobile tomorrow - the National Weather Service is coordinating an Integrated Warning Team Workshop. Representatives from the federal government, academia, military, emergency management and meteorology communities will meet and discuss ways to better work together to serve you in times of severe weather - especially hurricanes.
