Fraternal Order of Police honors Alabama's fallen officers

MONTGOMERY, Ala. (WSFA) - The state Fraternal Order of Police honored fallen officers across the state Friday.

They hosted a memorial service at the state Capitol honoring Mobile officer Justin Billa, Huntsville officer Keith Earle and Lanett officer Benjamin McDonald.

“Because behind that badge, the polished shoes and the friendly smile stands a person dedicated to protecting the lives of Alabamians even if their job places them directly in harm’s way," said Alabama Attorney General Steve Marshall. "While there are other occupations that can be hazardous to a worker, few demand that a person enter the unknown on a daily basis to face personal injury - and even death.”

The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s honor guard remembered the fallen officers with a 21-gun salute.
