First Alert: Summer returns Thursday and beyond

One more perfect day...

Josh Johnson's Tuesday evening update

MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) - Ttoday was very pleasant with low humidity and comfortable weather, expect more of the same across Central and South Alabama tomorrow! Sunshine will dominate; afternoon highs will warm into the upper 70s and lower 80s. Lower humidity and a light breeze will make it feel even more comfortable.

By tomorrow night and Thursday morning, we start to see a slightly warmer airmass move into Alabama. That increase in temperature and humidity should lead to a few popup showers and thunderstorms by Thursday afternoon. The coverage of rain will be fairly limited.

I hope you enjoy the pleasant weather today, tonight and tomorrow, because things are about to warm up considerably. By the end of the work week and into the weekend, Alabama will warm into the upper 80s to lower 90s. Throw in some of our trademark Alabama humidity, and it will feel much more like Summer than the past two days.

And, with the increase in humidity and heat, we will deal with a few isolated showers and thunderstorms Thursday and beyond. The weekend will certainly not be a wash-out, but one or two afternoon showers or storms will bring a quick splash of rain to a few spots.

The heat will continue into next week as well, with afternoon highs next Monday and next Tuesday surging back into the upper 80s and lower 90s.
