MADISON, AL (WAFF) - Madison city leaders are beefing up their protection of animals.

On Monday, the City Council approved an ordinance that makes it illegal to tether your animal unattended.

Mayor Paul FInley said this has not been a “big issue,” but leaders wanted something official on the books.

The ordinance takes effect Aug. 1.
