MONTGOMERY, Ala. (WSFA) - Outgoing United States Air Force Secretary Heather Wilson was in Montgomery Tuesday. She spoke to civilian leaders from around the country as part of the National Security Forum on Maxwell Air Force Base.

She addressed the future of Air Force education and training in the Capital City.

“One of the things that Maxwell kind of is - and always has been - a hub for education and training for the Air Force for advanced professional military education," she said. "And one of the things that I know they’ve been working on here is how do we make that education more available to airmen where they are? And I know that that’s been a priority here.”

The secretary will miss when the F-35 begins development in Montgomery. She said she was “looking forward to seeing a red tail on that aircraft.”

Wilson’s last day is the 31st. In the fall she will take over as the president at the University of Texas at El Paso.
