MONTGOMERY, Ala. (WSFA) - An 18-year-old has been charged in a shooting that left a Montgomery man paralyzed.

Thearthis Tyrone House Jr. is charged with assault first degree.

According to court documents, the charges are related to a shooting that happened in the 3200 block of Suwanee Drive around 11:30 a.m. House was identified as the suspect in the shooting.

Capt. Regina Duckett says an investigation determined the shooting happened after an argument between House and the victim over a female.

Documents indicate the victim was shot one time, paralyzing him from the waist down.

The shooting caused nearby Carver High School to be placed on lock down as a precaution.

Duckett says House was taken into custody Tuesday morning and charged. He was transported to the Montgomery Detention Facility and placed under a $30,000 bond.
