MONTGOMERY, Ala. (WSFA) - Historic Dexter Avenue will become an open-air dining experience for the first time and it’s all benefiting the Montgomery City-County Public Library System.
Dexter will be turned into a dining experience Thursday evening, but the event will impact anyone trying to move around downtown. City officials say Dexter will close at noon so organizers can bring in nearly 48 tables, 400 chairs, a dance floor and a stage. Only the block between Perry and Lawrence Streets will close, and the intersections will remain open. That section of Dexter Avenue will re-open at 10 p.m.
This event is being held to support the Montgomery City-County Public Library System and all the programs the system offers. There will be opportunities at the event to donate toward specific programs at the event.
Dinner on Dexter will run from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.
