MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) - Like Thursday, Friday will also offer a scattering of showers and thunderstorms in the afternoon and early evening. This trend continues through the weekend and early next week - hot, humid days with isolated, mainly afternoon and evening showers and thunderstorms. Afternoon temperatures warm into the upper 80s and lower 90s each day.
The long-range model data keeps suggesting the possibility of record heat late next week. Specifically, the European computer model suggests that highs could skyrocket into the 95-100 degree range by the end of next week. Now, we will say on the record that these numbers would likely break records, so we are taking a wait-and-see attitude on this. While the exact numbers are still TBD, evidence is growing that we will be VERY hot by late next week and into next weekend.
Here is our exclusive 7-day forecast. Through the weekend it’s a classic summertime look for Alabama; afternoon highs each day will head into the upper 80s and lower 90s, with only a few passing showers and storms. By next week the heat begins to build, especially over the second half of next week. That’s when afternoon temperatures could make a run up into the mid-90s, upper 90s or perhaps even near 100° by the end of next week.
