MONTGOMERY, Ala. (WSFA) - Two Montgomery public schools have opened new playgrounds that are designed specifically for younger students.
Halcyon Elementary and Brewbaker Primary hosted ribbon cutting ceremonies to unveil the new playgrounds on their pre-K sites.
According to Montgomery Public Schools, these playgrounds include a sensory trike track, musical chimes, a honeycomb climber/tunnel, swings, talking tubes that look like flowers, art easels, drum sets and sand boxes.
The playgrounds were funded by the state’s Department of Early Childhood Education, Office of School Readiness.
MPS is also increasing the number of pre-K classrooms by six for a total of 21.
