MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) - The weekend is here! But, the weather won’t change very much. Saturday will be very similar to Friday: hot, humid, and isolated pop-up showers and thunderstorms are possible in the afternoon and early evening hours. Many will stay dry.
Overnight Saturday night the rain fades, temperatures drop back into the 60s, then we’ll do it all over again on Sunday. Sunday will feature scattered showers and thunderstorms around mainly in the afternoon, and afternoon highs will be in the upper 80s and lower 90s.
Long-range computer model data continues to suggest the idea of some extreme heat by the middle to end of next week. The European Model has been extremely consistent in the idea of upper-90s to perhaps triple-digit heat around the state by next Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. As we’ve mentioned before, we’ll take a wait-and-see approach on this, but evidence continues to grow that Alabama will see some very hot weather by Memorial Day Weekend.
Saturday and Sunday will feature a few hit and miss storms, but most of us should stay dry. Everyone will heat up, with afternoon temperatures in the upper 80s and lower 90s. The real heat however, arrives next week! Particularly the second half of next week, that’s when temperatures could surge into the 95 to 100 degree range across most or all of our area. Be ready, Alabama, summer is coming.
