TROY, Ala. (WSFA) - A 21-year-old Troy man died Friday from injuries suffered in a crash Thursday afternoon on Highway 231 in Troy.
Troy police say Darien Tyreke Ballard was a passenger in a Chevrolet Trailblazer involved in the crash.
Four other people were injured in the crash, which happened at the intersection of Pike County Road 1149 around 4:45 p.m.
All of those injured were transported to hospitals in the region. One was transported by helicopter to Dothan. The other four - three with injuries considered life threatening - were transported by ambulance to hospitals in Montgomery and Troy.
Two vehicles were involved in the crash - a silver 2008 Trailblazer and a red 2002 Jeep Wrangler. The Trailblazer overturned on the shoulder of the highway.
Troy Police Chief Randall Barr said one vehicle was traveling southbound and the other was northbound. The northbound vehicle made a left turn across the southbound lanes when the crash happened.
