MONTGOMERY, Ala. (WSFA) - The sun was out in full force today! Highs soared to either side of 90 degrees this afternoon with virtually zero relief from the heat in the form of rain.
Tomorrow will be similar to today with abundant heat and humidity. A bit more rain is possible; a band of showers and storms will work its way towards us from the west earlier in the day, then more showers and storms may develop again in the afternoon and evening.
More showers and storms will bubble up Monday, and you may want to enjoy the little relief from the heat they’ll provide. Once dry air settles in Tuesday, temperatures will skyrocket.
High pressure settles in Tuesday and sticks around through Memorial Day Weekend. By the start of the weekend, the heat may be borderline brutal – The European Model is still pointing fingers towards near-triple-digit temperatures. We’re still waiting to see if this plays out, but what we can tell you is that the Euro has been extremely consistent in thinking temperatures may reach the 95 to 100 degree range, and if it does, those highs would break records.
Overall, there’s not too much concern for rain this weekend if you have outdoor plans, but keep an eye on the radar – storms bubble up with little warning in the afternoon and evening. More storms are possible Monday, then a serious warm-up may potentially be underway.
