MONTGOMERY, Ala. (WSFA) - Another warm night is in progress! Temperatures are slowly falling through the 70s, and an isolated shower or two is possible.
Scattered rain and storm chances will continue into Monday as a cold front arrives and stalls over the state. This “cold” front won’t cool us down, but it will trigger more shower and storm development. Therefore, Monday will be the “wettest” of the next 7 days, but overall rain coverage still remains on the lower-end at 40%.
A ridge of high pressure will settle overhead Tuesday and hold through the weekend. Skies will stay dry and high temperatures will soar into the mid and upper 90s. The European Model still holds strong on the idea of triple digit temperatures by Memorial Day; we’ll wait and see if it plays out. Overall, expect very hot, potentially record-breaking temperatures for the holiday weekend.
To recap the 7 day forecast, a few showers and storms are possible today and tomorrow. Those who see rain will experience a brief break from the heat; those who stay dry will stay hot. Temperatures will continue to rise into the workweek and we may be challenging records by the weekend.
