DOTHAN, Ala. (WSFA) - A woman is in stable condition after being shot at a Dothan hotel early Sunday morning. The suspect was taken into custody Sunday evening, according to WTVY.
The man, since identified as Tyshawn William Fearington, turned himself in to police round 8:15 p.m. Sunday night without incident, WTVY reported. The victim is said to be his girlfriend.
Dothan Police Chief Steve Parrish said units responded to the Fairfield Inn on Ross Clark Circle in the early morning hours. Parrish said the shooting was a domestic related incident and a man shot the woman twice.
Thinking the man was inside the pair’s hotel room, Parrish said a tactical team cleared the room. Several other rooms were evacuated. The suspect was not found inside the room and remained at large for most of the day.
Following his arrest, WTVY reports Fearington was charged with attempted murder and discharging a weapon into an occupied dwelling.
