TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (WBRC) - A man is arrested after three UA female students claim he tried to extort them over explicit pictures. Court records show 22-year-old Michael Downing is facing several charges of sexual extortion.

Downing is accused of threatening to expose explicit photos of young women and distribute them to friends and family if they didn’t engage in sexual activity with him.

Court records show three women were contacted on Instagram and offered $350 to $450 to talk and FaceTime with him. They agreed, and then Downing offered them more money to expose themselves during the video chat sessions. That’s when explicit screenshots were secretly taken by Downing.

Downing is also being charged with human trafficking because Alabama law classifies that as knowingly benefiting financially, or with valuables, through the exchange of possible sex.
