TROY, Ala. (WSFA) - The Troy Trojans and the Southern Miss Golden Eagles will be seeing a lot of each other in the coming years. Tuesday, it was announced that the two schools signed a four-year football contract for the future.
The Trojans and Golden Eagles will already play this upcoming fall in Veterans Memorial Stadium, but the new deal will kick in starting in 2024.
Troy and Southern Miss will play two games at home and two on the road under the four-year deal with Southern Miss traveling back to Troy in September 2024 and 2028. The Trojans will head down to Hattiesburg in Sept. 2021 and 2029.
Recently, the two played back in 2016 in Hattiesburg where the Trojans took down the Golden Eagles 37-31 in the rain to jumpstart a seven-game winning streak.
Before that, the Trojans and Golden Eagles met in the 2008 New Orleans Bowl and in 1977 - both wins for USM.
The two teams will kick from the home of the Trojans this fall, Sept. 14 at 5 p.m.
