MONTGOMERY, Ala. (WSFA) - Calvin Pope, 31, has been arrested on child abuse counts for reportedly victimizing a child. He’s charged with first-degree rape and sexual torture, according to court documents.
Montgomery police tell WSFA 12 News they received a call Monday that a child had been raped. Pope was developed as a suspect and the following day, he was formally charged with two Class A felonies.
Pope’s bail was set at a combined $120,000, and he made bond Wednesday. His first court appearance is set for Thursday.
Officers confirm the victim knew Pope and is a female younger than 12-years-old.
