MONTGOMERY, Ala. (WSFA) - The Mid-Alabama Coalition for the Homeless is pulling dozens of resources together to give homeless people a place to find help for its 9th annual River Region Connects event.
On any given night, there are hundreds of people in the Montgomery area who don't have a place to sleep. This event is designed to connect them to resources, and bringing those resources under one roof. The resource fair offers everything from free state IDs to health care checkups and haircuts. It also offers help finding employment, shelter, medical and legal help.
More than 40 agencies are scheduled to be part of River Region Connects, helping 200 to 300 homeless people. Those who attend will get lunch, provided by Alabama Power, and hygiene kits to take with them.
River Region Connects runs 9 a.m to 1 p.m. Thursday at the Multiplex at Cramton Bowl.
