MONTGOMERY, Ala. (WSFA) - The Faulkner Eagles opened their 2019 season Saturday in a big way.
The Eagles soared to a 38-19 win over Bluefield College at Billy D. Hilyer Stadium.
Quarterback Mason Blocker had a big day throwing the ball. He passed for 253 yards and three touchdowns while Charles Blackmon rushed for 86 yards and a score of his own.
The game was tied at 7 after the first quarter before the Eagles scored the next 17 points, including a pick-six by Faulkner’s Garrett Hallmark. In the third Bluefied made it close, but Faulkner would pull away again to put down any risings of an opening weekend upset.
Head coach Tommy Wadsden picked up his first win as Faulkner’s head coach.
The Eagles are off next Saturday and will be back in action Sept. 14 against Lindsey Wilson College.
