JEFFERSON COUNTY, Ala. (WBRC) - Investigators with the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office have charged a man in the initially ‘suspicious’ death of a 2-year-old.
Authorities in Jefferson County initially announced the investigation into the death of 2-year-old Kaiden Ford saying it was suspicious.
On Thursday afternoon, the Sheriff’s office said 31-year-old Sylvester Corderyl Taylor was charged with capital murder in Kaiden’s death. Taylor is being held on no bond.
Investigators say they determined Kaiden died as a result of injuries inflicted upon him by Taylor. According to court records, Taylor is accused of hitting the boy causing his death.
Jefferson County Sheriff’s deputies and paramedics responded to the 1100 block of Florentine Circle just after 7 p.m. Wednesday night to a 2-year-old child who wasn’t breathing.
When they arrived at the scene, first responders treated Kaiden and then transported him to Children’s of Alabama. Sadly, he later died at the hospital.
