HOPE HULL, Ala. (WSFA) - A 15-year-old has been arrested after a Lowndes County death investigation became a homicide probe.
The suspect is charged with murder and was arrested at the scene just a few hours after the shooting happened Saturday on Lowndes County Road 26 in Hope Hull. The suspect is not being identified because of his age.
The victim, pictured above, has since been identified as 33-year-old Terrell Edmonds. He was shot inside his home, according to investigators.
Authorities could only describe the case as a “domestic situation” and would not identify the victim and suspect’s relationship, saying that such a disclosure would identify the minor.
A nearby resident, Robert Davis, described hearing the sound of gunshots Saturday morning. He didn’t give it a second thought because he hears gunshots all the time. But later in the day, the reality of it stunned him.
“It’s very shocking because the young man comes over to my next door neighbor two or three times a week,” said Davis.
Davis says he knew Edmonds and last saw him two days before he died. There was no hint of any trouble. “For him to be shot like that or whatever, no one would expect that, no,” Davis explained.
The teen is in custody in nearby Dallas County. He is said to be the youngest suspect charged with murder in recent memory in Lowndes County.
Lowndes County Sgt. Pat Downing says the teen has already had his first court appearance. Downing described Edmonds as a father who had a part time job in Montgomery.
