Alex City elects Woody Baird as its new mayor

ALEXANDER CITY, Ala. (WSFA) - Alexander City is getting a new mayor.

Woody Baird defeated incumbent Mayor Tommy Spraggins in Tuesday’s runoff. Spraggins took the seat following the death of the former mayor, Jim Nabors.

Baird is a former registered nurse and current business owner.

Baird’s victory is pending vote certification.
