MONTGOMERY, Ala. (WSFA) - Montgomery Fire Rescue officials are working to determine the cause of a fire inside a vacant first-floor apartment.

According to District Fire Chief Q. L. Burke, the fire happened around 2:30 a.m. in the 5600 block of Villas Lane. When firefighters arrived at the scene, smoke and flames could be seen coming from the apartment.

Burke says the apartment appears to have been vacant, and no injuries were reported.
