Mosses Police Department hosts turkey giveaway
LOWNDES COUNTY, Ala. (WSFA) - The Mosses Police Department gave back to the community with a turkey giveaway Sunday.
Police Chief DeMarcus Weems says it overwhelms him with joy to be able to give back to his community this holiday season.
“It’s important for the police department to connect with the community. In order for us to be successful, we need our community. And policing is not just about policing and locking people up. You also have to be a public servant. And so my heart desire just like I am from Montgomery, Alabama, is just continue to serve and I’m just doing in another capacity to serve the community at a time that I’m Chief of policing,” said Weems.
Over 150 turkeys were handed out Sunday.
