MONTGOMERY, Ala. (WSFA) - What caused a fire to leave a home heavily damaged is under investigation in Montgomery.

Montgomery Fire Rescue Assistant Fire Chief S. L. Cooper says firefighters were called around 9:37 p.m. to the 3900 block of Croydon Road. When they arrived, they found a single-story home with smoke and flames visible.

Cooper says the fire was contained to the home. The residents of the home were outside before firefighters arrived.
