MONTGOMERY, Ala. (WSFA) - U.S. Rep. Mike Rogers, R-Dist. 3, is now a ranking member of the powerful House Armed Services Committee for the upcoming 117th Congress.
Rogers, a member of Congress for 18 years, has served on the committee for the duration of his time in Washington. His district is home to the Anniston Army Depot as well as portions of Fort Benning.
He’s currently a ranking member on the House Homeland Security Committee, a committee he’s sat on for 15 years.
“It’s an honor to be selected by my colleagues,” Rogers said Thursday. “The nature of warfare is changing, and we must adapt accordingly. The future of the free world depends on meeting these challenges.”
In his new position, Rogers said he’ll “work to modernize our military, combat our rising adversaries, and dominate the battlefields of this century.”
