“I am so excited to be working in Tallapoosa County, with the staff, faculty, the parents, the students, the communities. We have a lot to do, but we have an awesome opportunity in front of us, and we are going to seize that opportunity,” Porter said following his swearing-in.

Porter was formerly the principal of Reeltown Elementary School before running for the superintendent position.

“The one thing that each one of us do know in our hearts is that we represent the future. Education is the future, and so we’re forward-minded,” Porter said.

Porter replaces former superintendent Joe Windle who retired at the end of 2020.
