MONTGOMERY, Ala. (WSFA) - The Montgomery Housing Authority accepted a check for $450,000 to aid the transformation plan for Centennial Hill community.

The housing authority will work with Alabama State University and other local partners moving forward.

The grant is one of 11 awards funded through The Choice Neighborhoods Initiative, which helps local leaders craft comprehensive, homegrown plans to revitalize and transform neighborhoods across the country.

“The Choice Neighborhoods Initiative grant is about many things. The first thing is people, the heartbeats, our neighbors, our children and our seniors,” said Montgomery Housing Authority President and CEO Damon Duncan.

That planning grant is part one of a larger implementation grant to aid the revitalization of Centennial Hill.
