Montgomery police charge suspect in October homicide

MONTGOMERY, Ala. (WSFA) - Montgomery police have charged a suspect in an October homicide.

According to Capt. Saba Coleman, Gregory Williams, 24, is charged with the murder of 49-year-old Marlon Roberts.

Coleman says Roberts’ murder took place on Oct. 14 in the 4700 block of Park Towne Way. Officers found him at the scene with life-threatening injuries from a shooting. He was taken to a local hospital and later died.

A WSFA 12 News photographer found the scene at an apartment complex called The Oaks.

Williams was identified as the suspect and taken into custody Thursday, Coleman says.

The circumstances surrounding Roberts’ death remain unknown. Roberts was the 51st homicide victim of 2020
