Auburn police enforcing Safer at Home Order due to increase in COVID-19 cases

AUBURN, Ala. (WTVM) - The Auburn Police Division is enforcing the state’s Safer at Home Order.

Due to the increase in COVID-19, the start of a new semester at Auburn University, and the desire to keep businesses open in Auburn, police asking the community to help curb the spread of the virus.

Police will engage in enforcement activities, including warnings and citations to those out of compliance with the governor’s order.

As of Thursday, January 7, 85 people are hospitalized at East Alabama Medical Center with COVID-19 and 20 of those patients are on ventilators. The community is being reminded of the Safer at Home Order due to these record-breaking numbers.
