MONTGOMERY, Ala. (WSFA) - A 16-year-old has been arrested and charged in connection to two separate Montgomery homicide investigations, according to the Montgomery Police Department.

Jody Goodwin, 16, of Montgomery, is charged with murder in both the December homicide of Larry Friendly and the January homicide of Martrell Williams.

The US Marshals Service task force took Goodwin into custody Friday.

Goodwin is accused of shooting Friendly, 40, around 7 p.m. on Dec. 19 in the 4600 block of Virginia Pines Lane. Williams was shot to death around 4:15 p.m on Jan. 2 in the area of Peabody Road and Manasse Drive.

The circumstances of Montgomery’s 63rd homicide of 2020 and first homicide of 2021 remain unclear, according to the Montgomery Police Department, but Goodwin has been identified as the suspect in both cases.

Goodwin has since been transported to the Montgomery County Detention Facility.
