BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WBRC) - The Alabama Department of Health is trying to balance both COVID-19 testing sites and vaccine distribution.
Dr. Karen Landers with ADPH said they will continue to maintain their COVID-19 testing even as vaccine efforts increase. She said they are pulling employees from other parts of the department to help roll out vaccines.
Landers said even as more people become vaccinated, the state will still need to know how much of the virus is out there. She said testing will still be a priority.
“Even once we have persons vaccinated, it will be a while before we have impact,” Dr. Landers said. “In terms of how much of the population will be vaccinated to be able to have impact on the overall disease that we have out there.”
