MONTGOMERY, Ala. (WSFA) - Alabama added 3,848 new cases of COVID-19 on Tuesday, according to data from the Alabama Department of Public Health, bringing the seven-day average for new cases up to 4,272 per day.
To date, the state has reported a total of 407,848 cases since the pandemic started.
ADPH also confirmed another 139 deaths on Tuesday. Most of these deaths were said to have happened in July, October, December and January. Alabama’s death rate is still among the lowest to date.

Hospitals across the state were treating a record 3,088 inpatients suffering from COVID-19 on Monday. That number fell only slightly to 3,076 on Tuesday.
Montgomery-area hospitals are treating a total of 272 inpatients for the illness. Baptist Health’s three facilities were treating 175 on Wednesday while Jackson Hospital set a new record of 97 for the day.

ADPH and the state education department have since released a dashboard that is updated weekly that tracks the number of COVID-19 reports on a system-wide level. Each report includes combined student and staff data. Individual schools are not identified due to privacy policies.
