GREENVILLE, Ala. (WSFA) - A Greenville police officer was involved in a two-vehicle crash Saturday night, Greenville Police Chief Justin Lovvorn said.

According to Lovvorn, the wreck happened around 7:40 p.m. The officer was responding to an emergency call with lights and sirens.

As the officer went through the intersection of Fort Dale Road and Manningham Road, another vehicle entered the intersection and hit his car, Lovvorn said. The impact projected the officer’s car into a light pole.

Lovvorn said the officer was taken to Regional Medical Center of Central Alabama.

The officer had a head injury but has been released in good condition, according to Lovvorn. The occupants in the other car had minor injuries and were treated at the scene.

Lovvorn said Alabama Law Enforcement Agency is investigating the wreck.
