MONTGOMERY, Ala. (WSFA) - Bond has been set for a teen who was arrested Monday and charged with murder after a shooting a week earlier turned deadly, according to the Montgomery Police Department.

Chad Chatman, 16, of Montgomery, is now charged in connection with the death of Marcus Brown, 39, of Montgomery. He’s being held at the Montgomery County Detention Facility on a $150,000 bond.

The investigation was opened around 4:20 p.m. on March 14, shortly after police and fire medics responded to the 1100 block of Barley Drive. That’s just off Narrow Lane Road.

On scene, first responders found Brown suffering from a life-threatening gunshot wound. He was taken to an area hospital where he later died from his injuries.

The circumstances surrounding the shooting were not immediately clear, but MPD said during the course of its investigation, it identified Chatman as the suspect.

He was arrested Monday by a U.S. Marshals Task Force.

A motive has not been released. The investigation is ongoing.
