CHILTON COUNTY, Ala. (WBRC) - A former high school band director plead guilty Tuesday to a charge of School Employee Distributing Obscene Material to a Student.

Ashlee Steinman is the former band director at Chilton County High School. She was originally arrested for sex with a student.

The plea agreement dismissed that charge.

Court records show Steinman was sentenced to no contact with the victim in the case.

“The end result is definitely bittersweet. I think Ashlee Steinman used her official position to target a young man and perform sexual acts with him. However, what we believe and what we can prove are sometimes different things. Ultimately, this young man can close this chapter of his life and proceed with pursuing a bright future in college. Every decision on this case was carefully made with direct input from the victim, his family and law enforcement,” said CJ Robinson, Chief Deputy District Attorney of the 19th Judicial Circuit which includes Chilton County
