Pedestrian killed after hit by car on Pepperell Parkway in Opelika

OPELIKA, Ala. (WTVM) - A pedestrian is dead after being struck by a vehicle on Wednesday afternoon.
According to Lee County Chief Deputy Coroner Gene Manning, the victim was 59-year-old Anette Shiver.
Police received a call regarding the woman being hit in the 2900 block of Pepperell Parkway around 4 p.m. CST.
Shiver was transported to the East Alabama Medical Center, where she died around 5:50 p.m.
Opelika police are handling the investigation, and the victim’s body will be sent to the Department of Forensics in Montgomery for autopsy.
