MOBILE, Ala. (WALA) - Mobile police are investigating a murder that happened Saturday night on Scottsdale Drive near Overlook Road.
Officers responded to a shooting involving a domestic altercation call around 9:30 p.m. When officers arrived on scene, they found man inside the residence with a gunshot wound. When Mobile Fire-Rescue Department arrived on scene, they pronounced the victim deceased.
On Monday, police released the victim’s name. He was 32-year-old Jamies Johnson.
Krystal Miskel, 33, was taken into custody at the scene on the 1000 block of Scottsdale Drive. MPD said Miskel is the victim’s ex-girlfriend. She was taken to Metro Jail and charged with murder.
One neighbor said earlier in the evening, the victim was outside the home visibly angry.
“Probably like at 7:30, I saw the victim sitting outside, and he was arguing on the phone with somebody about a female,” said the neighbor. “He was really upset.”
Hours later, she heard shots.
“My mom texted me and said she heard two gunshots, and we got on the floor,” said the neighbor. “Maybe five or six minutes later, the firetrucks, police, and ambulance were outside of the same house the guy was arguing at.”
The neighbor added this isn’t the first time she’s heard arguing.
“If it is going on, it’s inside and we don’t know, but outside, just a couple of incidents before, but nothing really major,” she said.
No additional details are available at this time. The victim’s name will be released upon notification of the next of kin. Miskel has a bond hearing set for Tuesday.
This marks Mobile’s 33rd homicide of the year.
