First Alert: Dry end to week, showers return to start the weekend
Tracking a nice warm-up through the end of the week, with rain chances increasing by Friday night into Saturday.
MONTGOMERY, Ala. (WSFA) - After a crisp start to the day Thursday, afternoon highs will soar into the upper 70s to near 80 degrees. Skies will remain mostly clear through the day with winds being out of the east around 5 mph. Thursday night will again be calm and quiet, lows will fall into the 50s and and winds will be out of the southeast.
Friday clouds will be on the increase ahead of the next frontal boundary that is forecast to impact the state late Friday into the day on Saturday. Highs Friday will soar well into the 80s with breezy south winds.

A strong cold front will move across the Mid-South to Deep South as we push through the day on Friday. Strong to severe storms are expected across a large chunk of the south as we move through the day Friday. Showers and storms are expected in Northwest Alabama, but the current forecast shows that storm threat weakening as it pushes closer to Central Alabama, something we will watch closely through the end of the week.
Rain and a few thunderstorms are possible on Friday night, as the front is forecast to be weakening as it moves into Central and South Alabama. Lows will hover in the 60s with breezy south winds staying in place.

Scattered showers and a few thunderstorms are in the forecast Saturday with cloudy skies sticking around. Highs remain on either side of 80 degrees. The stormy weather will exit and we are trending drier by Saturday night. Lows will hover around 50 degrees with a mainly clear sky.
Sunday will feature sun and clouds with highs in the 70s, lows will hover in the 50s with a few showers back into the forecast.
The start to next week looks a bit unsettled. Scattered showers and few thunderstorms are possible Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday of next week. Highs will hove in the 70s and 80s for the start of next week with lows in the 50s and 60s.
