John O'Connor

John O'Connor joined the WSFA 12 News family in December 2012 as an anchor and reporter.

John began his career in radio in his home town of Asheville, North Carolina. Since then he has worked all over the country. This is his second time living in Alabama. He lived in Mobile for five years as a teenager.

John spent several years as a newscaster in Florida. Most recently working in Jacksonville. He has covered the space shuttle program for many years along with other big regional stories like the Daytona 500, too many hurricanes and the Florida voting controversies.

He likes to spend his free time on the golf course or riding his motorcycle. John is also an avid guitar player. He's the proud father of two daughters and shares an apartment in Montgomery with his 16 pound Maine Coon cat named Piper.
