Former AU baseball coach dead at 76

UBURN, Ala. (AP) - Former Auburn baseball coach Paul Nix has passed away. Nix was 76 when he died Monday.

He was Auburn's longest tenured baseball coach, leading the program from 1963-84.

Nix led the Tigers to 515 wins, a pair of College World Series berths and three Southeastern Conference championships.

He was named the SEC Coach of the Year five times.

Nix also spent six seasons as head coach at Troy State, where he played baseball and football.

The Tigers finished third in the World Series in 1967 and seventh nine years later.
