Montgomery, Ala. (WSFA) -- The Montgomery Police Department called in the leaders of one of the city's best programs for crime reduction.

Neighborhood Watch leaders and neighborhood association leaders across Montgomery exchanged ideas on how to improve their programs.  Groups like Crimestoppers, Clean City Commission and Montgomery Bond were there to let residents know the services they provide.

"By far the neighborhood watch program is the number one program out there that defeats crime. You can buy alarms, have a dog, but it's a proven fact that 100% of the time that you have an active neighborhood watch actively calling the police you have a safe community," said Crime Prevention Officer Sgt. Tony Garrett.
