MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) - Severe weather may roll into the area just in time for Christmas leaving many singing "Oh the weather outside is frightful."

The National Weather Service Wednesday issued a high wind advisory for Montgomery County lasting through Christmas night. Winds of 25 miles per hour are expected by noon Thursday with possible gusts reaching as much at 40 miles per hour.

At that speed yard furniture, trash cans and Christmas decorations could blow away so residents may want to secure them.

Also keep in mind that crosswinds could make driving conditions dangerous, "especially for high profile vehicles," says the City of Montgomery's EMA.

WSFA 12 News Chief Meteorologist Rich Thomas and the Doppler 12 StormVision team are watching the skies and will keep you informed of any severe weather conditions at a moment's notice.
